Ben Veitch is the 2014 Western Australia bodyboarding champion.
The third and final event of the 2014 SunSmart WA Bodyboard Titles wrapped up in unforgettable fashion over the weekend with sensational winter conditions blessing competitors at Scarborough Beach.
After a marathon 10 hour day, a total of eight State Bodyboard Titles were awarded as a team of 25 riders were confirmed to represent Western Australia.
Veitch claimed his maiden Open Men's State title, winning the blue ribbon division with a dominant display in the 25-minute final.
Making the most of the fast barrelling waves and ample air sections, Veitch scored an excellent 8.50 and backed it up with a 6.33 to finish with a combined two wave total of 14.83.
Despite being challenged by two younger competitors in Lee Wilson and Noah Symmans, Veitch's experience and consistency shone through as he backed up his opening round win at Yallingup and second place finish in Mandurah with a win at Scarborough.
"I've been competing in these comps for the last four or five years and have been finished up bridesmaid a few times. It's always good to have a win and take home the State Title after a day packed with sick waves," says Ben Veitch.
Despite scoring an 8.00 for massive ARS, Wilson had to settle for second ahead of Symmans in third and Brendan Gabel in fourth.
