Tahurai Henry: he calls Teahupoo his home

Tahurai Henry has suffered a serious injury at Teahupoo, Tahiti.

The Polynesian bodyboarder participated in one of the free surfing sessions that preceded Billabong Pro Tahiti 2014 heats, alongside many local chargers.

Apparently, Henry suffered a horrific wipeout and broke his back. He was immediately taken to the Taravao hospital, but he will face a long period rehabilitation before returning to the vertical walls of Teahupoo.

"Hey guys, I'm OK. Just broke my back a little and opened my head. What a day of big waves. I can't wait to see the wave!," Tahurai Henry wrote on his Facebook page.

Tahurai Henry is one of the most talented bodyboarders in Tahitian waters. He started riding waves in 2003, inspired by Mitch Rawlins and Jared Houston.

Teahupoo is constantly breaking bones, whether you're a local bodyboarder or a foreign experienced surfer. Remember what happened to Keala Kennelly?
