Dave Winchester: fifteen years later, he won the Jeff Wilcox Memorial

Dave Winchester has taken out the prestigious Jeff Wilcox Memorial 2014, at Tuncurry Beach, New South Wales, Australia.

The 17th edition of the Jeff Wilcox Memorial was run in spectacular wave conditions. In two days, the cream of Australian bodyboarding gathered around pristine barrels to celebrate the memory of Jeff Wilcox.

In the opening rounds, riders were blessed with clean three-to-four foot tubes and impeccable A-frames. It was time to display everyone's barrel riding and aerial antics.

In the Open Men's division, Dave Winchester tasted victory and was followed by Daniel Worsley, Chase O'Leary, and James Nymeyer.

"Back in the day, I came third in the Juniors at the Jeff Willcox contest. Fifteen years on and I got myself the Open trophy. So stoked to be apart of such an amazing and inspiring contest. Thanks again to everyone involved!", said Winchester.

The Drop-Knee contest has Grant Molony securing the highest award while Emma Roby stole the Women's title. Mitch East and Jacob Dunn won the Masters and Junior Men competitions.

The wave of the event went to Shayden Schrader, and Tory Mitchell suffered the worst/best wipeout of the Jeff Wilcox Memorial 2014.

"We were blessed with incredible waves this year. We couldn't ask for better. The awesome waves resulted in some sensational rides. Everyone is already talking about when they are coming back," revealed Aaron Dodds, the event director.
