The EBB Pro gets set to decide Australian bodyboarding titles
Wednesday, 15 September 2010 08:40

EBB Pro: a true Australian classic

Yallingup in the South-West corner of WA is the location for the three day 2010 EBB Pro, which will also include the final event of the WA State Bodyboard Series. This will be the second last event of 2010 and provide one rider the stepping stone to the Australasian title which is still a very open race.

The EBB Pro is the fifth stop of the Australasian Bodyboarding Pro Tour which has thus far travelled to New South Wales, Queensland and South Australia . The event will see a bumper field of 30 professional bodyboarders from across WA, East Coast Australia and even South Africa travel to the beautiful Cape Naturaliste Area of South West WA.

With a massive 4 star rating and a total prize pool of $5,000 the EBB Pro is the pinnacle of bodyboarding events in Western Australia. After an amazing stop last weekend for the Heatworks Pro at the infamous Knights Wedge in South Australia all riders on the Australasian Rebel Sport Bodyboard Tour are hitting peak form just in time for this event!

The EBB Pro has always been a pivotal event on the Australasian Rebel Sport Bodyboard Tour with last years winner Corey McLean (QLD) going on to claim the 2009 Australasian Title. International Bodyboarding Association Australasia (IBAA) Tour Judge Danny Bycroft is excited at the prospects of such an amazing field of bodyboarders competing at one of six contest locations around the Yallingup area.

“Having an event in heavy powerful waves in the South West corner of WA will allow these amazingly talented competitors to demonstrate what explosive high performance bodyboarding is all about” Said Danny.

Running the final event of the WA State Bodyboard Series with the EBB Pro allows WA's aspiring bodyboarders to mix it with their idols from around Australia.

“This years EBB Pro has drawn some of the worlds best bodyboarders including Dave Winchester, Joe Clarke, Michael Novy and Tom Rigby from the east coast as well as local heroes Chad Jackson, Brad Hughes, Josh Garner, Alex Halsey and fresh from his win in big win in Europe Jake Stone.

With only 2 events remaining on this years tour the guys will be going for broke not only attempting to win the Australian title but also to gain a top 10 spot on the Australasian Tour and guarantee themselves entry into next years International Bodyboard Association (IBA) Pipeline Pro” Said Danny.

With picture perfect conditions forecast for the three day event organisers are hopefully that this years EBB Pro will once again showcase the awesome waves of the South-West, although the swell is looking a touch on the small side there is a variety of breaks that will surely still test some of the worlds best.

At this stage the EBB Pro will be running professional divisions on Friday and Saturday with the WA State Titles set down for Saturday and Sunday.
