IBA Venezuela 2008

The Bodyboard Pro Festival (BPF) will be run again in Venezuela in its issue valid IV with the rank of World Surfing Bodyboarding mode from 24 to October 26 in Playa Parguito, Isla de Margarita.

The event will award points for all those international athletes competing in Women and Dropknee points and Latinos for the Open Men category.

In this sense, Lumar Guittard, 13 of the top professional athlete in the world specialty and organizer of the BPF 08, note that this event will define the champions of Latin America as the last valid circuit 2008.

"We have so far confirmed to the Champion's Bodyboard Pro Maylla Venturina Festival 2007 (Brazil), the champion of the ISA Natasha Sagardi 2007 (Puerto Rico), the Champion Dropknee in the BPF 07 Dave Hubbard (Hawaii), and semifinalist Ardiel Jimenez de Gran Canarias, and Latin American leader to Valadao Uri World ranking (Brazil), "said Guittard.

Brazilian Bahia stage canceled by the IBA Tour
Friday, 26 September 2008 09:20

IBA Tour 2008

Since February I was working together a marketing sports company that organizes the WQS surfing events in Brazil to host the IBA event this year in Bahia, nothern Brazil. They came up to me showing a lot of interest on the sport with a trustable background. In a couple of weeks they had the multimedia project done and went after the sponsors.

One of the biggest hotel resorts of Brazil had interest on the project and they started to negotiate. Meanwhile the negotiations where happening, the resort was sold to an Arabic group and this shaked the infra structure of the resort. The selling of the resort to this group was the main and only cause for not having the IBA event this year. They cancelled all shows, and other events that they had planned for the rest of the year.

The resort has interest in having the bodyboarding event on their beach for 2009 and I already started the conversation to make this a part of the SOUTH AMERICAN LEG of the world tour.

The cancelling of the event is bad for Brazil, the tour, the world, the riders, everyone !  I am very upset with the cancelling of Bahia.  I can guarantee that everyone here dedicated 100% for the happening of the event.

Human Bodyboarding Pro Tour 2008

Dave Winchester (South Curl Curl, NSW) has officially taken out the 2008 Human Australasian Bodyboarding Pro Tour after finishing third in the Human Port Mac Pro on Sunday.

The 2008 Human Bodyboarding Pro Tour has been the strongest on record with some of the worlds greatest bodyboarders competing including Mitch Rawlins, Micheal Novy, Brad Hughes, Chad Jackson and Ryan Hardy.

The resurgence of competitive bodyboarding has been a result of more lucrative prize money on offer at each Pro Tour event, plus the level of quality riders supporting the tour.

Dave Winchester, has been competing on both the world circuit and Australasian Circuit for some time now and he his thrilled to have taken the title.

"It feels really good, this is something i have wanted to do since I first got on the tour eight years ago. It's good to set a goal and achieve it"  said Dave

Competitively Dave found that this year was one of the hardest years ever competing on the Australasian Tour, which has made the win even more sweeter.

"This year was extremely competitive with a lot of big names coming back to the tour, guys like Mitch Rawlins, Brad Hughes, Michael Novy, Ryan Hardy, Chad Jackson and then young up and comers like Joe Clark and Dave Crowley, all these guys made every comp this year a tough one, there were never any easy heats".  said Dave

Dave will now take a well earned rest, before getting married to his fiance in three weeks.  In 2009 Dave is looking forward to competing both on the world circuit as well as the Australasian Pro Tour.
