2009 British Bodyboard Nationals

5-6 September will see the biggest UK bodyboard gathering of the year at Porthtowan.  With a £3,000 prize purse and cash rewards across all 8 divisions from Under 14s right through to Masters (over 35); the Auto Sleepers UK championships are among the most richly rewarded in Europe.

Added to the prize pot is the chance to win a custom BZ board shaped exclusively for the winner by American shaper Yamo.  The prospect of having a board sculpted to their own specifications will go to the best individual rider performance in the Nationals.

This could be awarded for an outstanding individual manoeuvre or a stand-out divisional performance. The winner will be invited to offer their specs for the board and it should be done and delivered in time for Christmas.

Matt Woodruffe, Director of TKC Sales Ltd who distribute BZ and Morey into the UK said, “We’re really pleased to be able to contribute to the  Nationals in this way as it’s the highlight of the UK bodyboard calendar.  The fact that this prize was open to all the divisions was a bonus for us”.

2009 Sopenala BBK Pro

The check-in for the Sopelana BBK Pro is underway and will close at 8pm local time. Anyone that is not here must get someone to pay on their behalf or risk losing the seeding position.

The Hawaiin trio of Hubb, Dubb and Romero are here along with the current World Champion Uri Valdao and current ratings leader Guilherme Tamega both of Brazil.

The check in for day 1 will be tomorrow at 2pm as the event is still finishing a junior contest so a likely start will be tomorrow afternoon for R1.

The swell is forecast to come up overnight so things are shaping up very nicely indeed for this 4 day event.

The race for the 2009 WWT title has two front runners in Neymara Carvalho (Brazil) and Unate Aguirre (Spain)

The two are locked in a ratings race that will come down to the wire, so the result here in Sopelana will be crucial.
