The Ultimate Bodyboarding Day will be held at Tolcarne Beach

The Corona/Kahuna/Overhead Wedge Air Jam at Tolcarne beach, Newquay is the biggest bodyboarding contest of the summer, and it has just been announced that Rob Barbers Bodyboarding School will add to the fun with a special bodyboard coaching day.

This promises to be an epic day, and one that bodyboarding fans cant afford to miss:
Learn or develop your own bodyboard skills with the UKs best coaching team
Watch the best riders in Britain blowing up at the UKs premiere bodyboarding wave
Soak up the atmosphere at the after-event party at the Kahuna right on Tolcarne beach.

A+ coaching for all abilities will be taking part throughout the day with two sessions with Rob and his coaching team. The afternoon session will end in plenty of time for you to be on Tolcarne for the contest, beginning with the event check-in at 4pm and then running until dark as the Wedge fires up and the UKs top riders do battle in the air.

It is with great delight that we are able to confirm the running of The Wedge Classic in 2009!

After many months of uncertainty and an ever increasing level of concern among riders that the event wouldn't go ahead, The Wedge Classic is confirmed from the 5th to the 10th of July 2009.

The event will draw the top bodyboarders from around the country to the sleepy coastal town of Plettenberg bay for an all out assault on the jewel in the crown, The Wedge.

With an extensive history and arguably the favourite event on tour, this year promises to deliver on all fronts, from action in the water to late evening activities.

The contest is the longest standing event in South Africa and always delivers on the fun factor, where competitors jostle for valuable points out in the water to take the coveted 'King of the Wedge' title.

Will last year's King, Vaughn Harris, be on hand to defend his crown and will local ripper, Ryan Jucker, make it three in a row in the events men's division?

2009 Nomad Shark Island Challenge

It is with great pleasure that we present the 16 invited riders who will be challenging one of the worlds most feared waves. A wave who’s mission is to bruise and crush ones outer shell. This wave makes no apologies for beatings. It loves dishing it out pain; it loves the taste of blood.

It senses the fear in every rider, punishing those who show it the most. It is only those who inject shear adrenalin into the very veins that pumps ones ability to block out the mental game that Shark Island plays. It is this rider that will become the 2009 NOMAD Shark Island Challenge champion.

The riders chosen for this years Nomad Shark Island Challenge best represent the talent of today’s everyday bodyboarder, riders that thrive for Bodyboarding, whether they are tour riders, free surfers, blue collar works or just self confessed freaks. It is these people that when brought together truly perceive what the sport is all about.

The chosen invitees have been categorised into five groups:
