The global economic crisis is seriously hitting the action sports business.

The top surfing events are clearly less in 2010 and even the volcanic ash cloud made things worse.

Multinational companies are reducing costs and investment is being delayed.

Also, in fast growing sports like kiteboarding, the event organizers are pulling competitions.

When there were on six weeks until the Speedsailing World Championships, in Fuerteventura, kitesurfers and windsurfers were informed that the competition was cancelled and sailors couldn't bring up their own event, as an alternative.

Let's hope surf brands can restore their cash flows and present us new and exciting water competitions.

Sailors and surfers will always be here for outstanding performances.
