2010 will be the year of speed sailing. Kitesurfers, windsurfers and sailboat skippers are running wild and training a lot to capture the world record flag.
Right now, "l'Hydroptère" is the king of speed sailing. Having achieved 51.36 knots over 500 meters and 48.72 knots over one nautical mile, this hi-tech ocean explorer is the fastest sailing boat on the planet.
Nevertheless, it won't be for very long. SurferToday.com has been watching the kite and windsurfing moves and we bet that Alex Caizergues, Antoine Albeau and even Rob Douglas have a hidden joker for this year's speed challenge.
One of them will surely break the record established by the World Sailing Speed Record Council (WSSRC). Good luck and great winds!
