A 38-year-old kitesurfer died Saturday after strong winds smashed him into boulders at Milnerton's Lagoon beach in Cape Town, South Africa.

He was from Bloubergstrand.

Very strong winds of more than 15 knots were gusting at the time, according to the National Sea Rescue Institute.

The kitesurfer slammed against rocks alongside the beach and suffered fatal injuries despite efforts by paramedics to save him.
