Welcome to Germany and the highly anticipated SEAT Kitesurf World Cup, the first stop on the KPWT 2009.
63 men and 12 female professional riders from across the globe have arrived and registered for this World Cup event, sanctioned by ISAF/IKA.
The event will host four disciplines: Freestyle, Wave-Riding, Kiteloop and Course-Racing, boasting an overall prize money of 50 000 euros.
KPWT welcomes back Gisela Pulido from Spain, who started with the tour back in 2004 and we are all looking forward to paying close attention to how she performs amongst some tough competition. Kirsty Jones (KPWT Wave-Master Champion 2008), Kristin Boese (KPWT World Champion 2007) and Ainhoa Garcia (Spain) have all arrived and are eager to impress once more.
Amongst the men: Leander Vyvey (Belgium), Antoine Auriol (France), Jess Richman (KPWT World Champion 2008), Mitu Monteiro (KPWT Wave-Master Champion 2008) Jose Luengo (Spain), Sean Farley (MEX), Bruno Sroka (FRA) all looked energized to be back competing again on the “First World Tour”.
Mario Rodwald is a local rider eager to perform well in the Freestyle discipline, so watch out for him! KPWT are pleased to announce that 3 wild cards have been granted to Armin Loose, Nolkel Henning and Rodwald Roy for their contribution to the sport.
This evening the local organizers have arranged a beach barbecue for the KPWT team and all riders for the event. This is a great opportunity to relax and develop a positive feeling leading into the first event.
Skippers meeting will be tomorrow morning at 08h30 after breakfast, with the forecast looking positive to commence with the first heats within the freestyle discipline.
Thank you again to the sponsors namely Seat, Swatch, Smint and Roadsign Australia for their contributions and support for this World Cup event.
The local organizers, Brands Guide and Thilo Trez have done nothing but impress, and KPWT look forward to the rest of the event and working with them in the future.
