Kristin Boese takes kiteboarding to Lancing
Friday, 17 September 2010 16:50

KB4girls: UK is waiting for the queen

The KB4girls 2010 World Tour with 9-time world champion Kristin Boese moves on to the eleventh clinic this year.

The Great Britain event however would not have been possible with the amazing support of Andrina Kelly and Frazer Stewart who are both British kiters and have joined their forces for the KB4girls event in their local area.

Andrina Kelly, local support and participant: “When Kristin released the dates for her KB4 Girls tour 2010, I registered myself for the clinic in Egypt. When I saw she was also doing one in Lancing/UK, I got very excited and wanted to help as much as I could, as we never get anything this exciting happening locally just for the Ladies. Participating in the event in Egypt motivated me even more to try and give something back, as I was able to see how much hard work and organizing Kristin herself puts into making KB4Girls happen. So to be able to take part and help Kristin with the KB4Girls on my Local Beach is a real honor.”

Frazer Stewart from Brighton Kitesurfing Academy and Pureactionsports.com: "You don't see many girls on the kitebeaches around the UK and therefore it will be very special to get together 30 girls for the KB4girls event in Lancing. The initiative is a great support for females in the sport and we at the Brighton Kitesurfing Academy are very to be able to be part of it."

Amazing is also going to be the support from the female kiters in the UK. Steph Bridge, 3-time PKRA race World Champion as well as former PKRA competitor Emma York and kiteboard instructor Laura Price will help Kristin to motivate the female participants and to give tips about tricks and competitions during the whole weekend. With such an elite team of girls it is going to be difficult for the participants to not take something away from the event.

“Kiteboarding is an achievable water sport for all girls as they take to kitesurfing naturally and it is always great fun to kitesurf with other girls. Coaching the girls in the sport is always rewarding and much appreciated. Kristin's KB4Girls is such an exciting concept; I am really looking forward to being involved. Feeding off each other the girls take huge steps in their progression, pushing themselves just that bit more. Getting the messages across & watching their motivation is really rewarding.” comments Steph Bridge, 3x PKRA World Champion and owner of Edge Watersports in Devon.

Laura Price, an instructor who has been teaching kiteboarding in Zanzibar for the past years will even fly in for the event and is excited: “I can't think of a better reason to fly back to the UK. Being involved in such an amazing, positive and proactive project as KB4girls is an honor, and I can’t wait! Bring on the wetsuits and the wind!”

The girls are going to stay at the Adur Center just 5 kilometers away from the beach where they will spend the day, kite and practice their tricks. A BBQ and a dinner at Beach House Shoreham and after party with the Kitesurf Club Lancing are planned for the 2 evenings. High5 will provide energy bars and snacks for the beach as well.

Jim Gaunt from Kiteworld magazine, who is a media partner of KB4girls but also supports the UK event locally, says: "We're so pleased to be able to get behind Kristin's events. She's achieved so much in the sport but continues to strive to inspire and give back at the grass roots level. We've heard from lots of girls who've been on her courses, they've improved so much and would do it again in an instant."

Fun Race saves the 2012 Défi Wind in Gruissan

Wednesday, 23 May 2012

SurferToday.com | Surfing News Center The 2012 Défi Wind has been concluded in rather untypical weather conditions. Unfortunately, the Tramontane wind didn't appear to salute the 850 windsurfers, at Gruissan, France. The "Défieurs" are coming back home with a feeling of bitterness for not having the opportunity to participate to a more formal race, but all the same glad to be the witness of such a Défi-out-of-control.
