James Boulding takes the Rhosneigr Park Jam 2010

Rhosneigr Park Jam: great way to end the day

The second Rhosneigr Park Jam took place on a chilly weekend in October. With a new riding location and new rooftop slider that was almost too big to launch, it kicked off on Friday morning with the promise of some breeze.

A 16-20 knot westerly came in by midday and the rooftop was in position for a session. The wind direction was not the best for the event site, making it insanely gusty, but Ali Reader as always was the first on the water to ease his rail fever and managed some sweet hits with a nice 180 on and 3 pass on the down ramp.

All the riders gave it a go with Adam KSD Walker getting some nice Back Lips despite his rage levels hitting the roof due to the gusty wind. The wind then started to go nuclear so we then towed the rail in front of ‘The Boat House’ to hit it with the Redbull Jet Ski and huddle out of the rain and wind to watch the action. James Boulding took on the driving duties for most of the afternoon and we seasoned till dark.

Saturday the wind looked NW so we headed down to Rhosneigr beach to hit the Alloy A-Frame from RPJ 2009. Martin Tatchell took to the water to check the wind and it was only just enough to ride so we waited till lunch to call it. The light wind was soon replaced with torrential rain so we headed back to The Boat House to use the Redbull Ski again and session both the Flat Bar and the Rooftop.

A sweet crowd had gathered pushing the riders harder and harder with the Redbull wagon giving some sound tunes, and commentary from Adam KSD keeping everyone up to speed with the action. The stand out performers in this session were Jack ‘Super Grom’ Daykin with a 900 on the rooftop and James Boulding with a Gap 3 off the rooftop, then a Gap 5, then a Gap 7 attempt nearly ripping his fingers off in the process.

The bar opened at 2pm allowing the spectators to get loose early and we closed the Park at 5pm. Big Rave Dave’s Park Jam Party kicked off at 8pm with a sweet mix on the tunes and a guest appearance from wakeboard pro Dan Jordan on the decks. The party kicked hard till about 3.30am finishing up with some big bass as per usual.

Sunday was a slow affair with Rider Bacon Sarnies at 10am and a few sorry looking faces around the campsite. The sun came out though and those keen enough got out the Redbull ski once more for rooftop session.

An early prize giving at 2pm and post event drinks were all that followed. Big thanks to all the sponsors, especially Flexifoil for donating some sweet Swag Bags stuffed with new Flexifoil lifestyle accessories, and also to all the RPJ friends that put in the hard graft free of charge to build, clear, dive, drive, skive, beg, borrow and steal to make the event possible!

Got some big plans for 2011 so keep an eye on the website www.rhosneigrparkjam.com and see you next year.

This problem can be developed after 3000 hours of cold water surfing. Neoprene hoodies and ear plugs are the best way to avoid surgery.
