The World Sailing Speed Record (WSSR) Council has confirmed two new world records. The French kitesurfer Charlotte Consorti is now the fastest female rider in the globe, as the 50.43-knot speed record has been ratified. Consorti secured this place in the 2010 Luderitz Speed Record, in Namibia. She is the first woman to exceed 50 knots. The previous record was held by Sjoukje Bredenkamp (45.20 knots), from South Africa. Also, Sebastien Cattelan confirmed his new speed record of 55.49 knots. The World Sailing Speed Record Council (WSSRC) has started the ratification process of the speed records registered during the 2010 Luderitz Speed Challenge and will be announcing them in chronological order.
