Red Bull Ragnarok: watch those lines

Sigve Botnen (snowboard), Bjorn Kaupang (ski) and Malin Rapp (women) have conquered the Red Bull Ragnarok 2011, held in Norway. Once again some of the best snowkiters met at Europe’s biggest mountain plateau for one of the hardest snowkite endurance competitions.

A challenging 100-kilometere long natural track, a mass start with 200 participants and fierce conditions once again highlighted the difficulty of this event.

Among many other challengers, there was five-times world kiteboarding champion Aaron Hadlow.

"We got nothing for free today and we had to fight all the way in. I'm well pleased with my victory," said Sigve Botnen, winner of the snowboard class.

'Ragnarok' is a legend from the Norse mythology. The last battle between the good and evil Gods, where only the heroes of the battlefield would survive. "Red Bull Ragnarok" imitates the myth and only a few snowkite heroes will succeed. Endurance is paramount, and only the toughest riders will make it to the finish line.
