Kitesurf Tour Europe: stunning action

The 2011 Kitesurf Tour Europe is reaching its climax, as the best European kiteboarders prepare their trip to St. Gilles Croix de Vie, in France. The final stage of the KTE will be held between October 26th and November 1st.

The European battle kicked of on the beautiful island of Sylt, Germany, with challenging conditions including 3-4 meter waves and winds around 25 knots. Then it was time to cruise down to Lamezia Terme, in southern Italy.

Warm and sunny weather and light winds asked for completely different skills. Thermal winds kicking in late in the day were crucial to define the winners.

Now, it's time for decisions. Mario Rodwald from Germany and French rider Sebastien Garat are the top-favourites to win the title and become European champions in Freestyle kiteboarding.

"After finishing second in the European Championship last year I really put all my commitment into this years tour and hopefully I can make it this time. Some of the guys are really close in the ranking so there´s quite some pressure but it´s going to be good action and also a lot of fun!", explains the German champion.

Mario used the advantage of competing at home and won the event in Sylt, by defeating Seb Garat, Tijn van Esch and Jerrie van de Kop

In Lamezia, Mario and Seb were smiling winners after defeating Italian locals Stefano Martinelli and Gabriele Garofalo in the semis. Now, the home advantage is on Seb’s side and as the tour showed, having a cheering crowd in the should not be underestimated – excitement, stunning action and close heats are guaranteed.
