Bjorn Rune Jensen has stormed the Red Bull Coast 2 Coast, a long distance kiteboarding race between Germany and Denmark.
Up to 350 kiteboarders from 13 nations participated in the two-way 40-kilometer marathon which connects Fehmarn, in German soil, to Lalandia, in Denmark.
While most kitesurf races see a few dozen competitors complete a circular course, Red Bull Coast 2 Coast challenged participants to travel quite literally from one country to another.
Beginners, intermediates and advanced-to-pro riders accepted the challenge, and it was Bjorn Rune Jensen, a Danish rider from Vordingborg, who sailed faster in the cold waters.
Jensen completed the Red Bull Coast 2 Coast in one hour and six minutes, less than five minutes than Alex Caizergues and Steffen Ovind, who completed the podium places.
"So stoked to finish second on the first Red Bull Coast 2 Coast, the toughest race I ever did in my life! So cool to go back and forth, from Germany to Denmark, in a little more than an hour", explained Caizergues.
The Red Bull Coast 2 Coast was run with bright sunshine and 20 knots of wind. Bjorn Rune Jensen won a trip to Hawaii, and an exclusive meeting with local legend Robby Naish.
The fastest woman to ride the 40 kilometers was Christine Bönninger, from Germany. She finished the race in one hour and 39 minutes.
