The British Kite Surfing Association reveals 2009 tour dates

BKSA 2009 

The British Kite Surfing Association (BKSA) has published the full schedule for the 2009 Tour. 

Now in its 9th year the BKSA tour dates are as follows:

3 Super size events with 4 National Titles being run at the same Venue:

These will be Swansea, Blackpool and Redcar

3 Freestyle Kitesurfing
3 Course Racing Kitesurfing
3 Freestyle Kitelandboarding
3 Freestyle Kitebuggy

4 Additional Kitesurf Freestyle (which count to overall title)

3 Wave Events

Dates – For Freestyle Kitesurf - Course, Buggy and Landboard

Round 1 April 24th-26th Watergate Bay Cornwall
Round 2 May 15th-17th Swansea South Wales
Round 3 July 10th-12th Hunstanton Norfolk
Round 4 July31st-Aug 2nd Barrow Cumbria
Round 5 August 28th-30th Blackpool Lancashire
Round 6 September 25th-27th Littlehampton West Sussex
Round 7 October 8th-10th Redcar Tee Side


All above events are subject to funding and – if funding is not agreed events may be pulled 30 days prior to dates .

Wave Events

These will be run on the first 3 dates that have wind – no wind no comp – they are weekend only events!

April – 4th-5th / 11th-12th / 18th-19th
May – 2nd-3rd / 23rd-24th / 30th-31st
June – 6th-7th / 13th-14th
Sept- 5th-6th / 12th-13th / 19th-20th
October- 3rd-4th / 24th-25th


At one of these locations due on the forecast and tides

Gwithian, Westward Ho, Gower Peninsula, Newgale, Isle of Wight, Norfolk

Notification will be made on Thursday Evening if an event will take place.

You must Pre Register and pay in advance – Heats will be drawn up prior to event.

Speed Rankings 2009

Throughout 2009 we will be running the BKSA GPS Speed rankings.

This will be a full list of up to date ranking of UK based riders using the international GPS ranking list.

You can do it anywhere anytime you like – Awards for the fastest Men and Ladies awards will be given out at the end of Year Prizegiving at the end of October – so get speeding – on the water!

Coaching Days

The BKSA will have more coaching days to BKSA members who have done a level 2 courses – to help with getting back on the water after the winter break or improve your riding

The courses taken by some of the top UK coaches will be taking place in the spring/ summer of 09

Lemondo Entertainment has announced the release of its newest game, "Kite Surfer", an arcade kitesurfing game designed for both iPhone and iPad. "Kite Surfer" is an endless running game, in which players take control of a character by swiping on the display or tilting a mobile device.

Dieter van der Eyken is one step closer of being crowned the 2013 Belgian Wave Windsurfing champion.
Bredene, in the Belgian province of West Flanders, held an intense weekend of wave windsurfing action. On Friday, all sailors completed the single elimination of the competition, despite the medium size waves and light winds.

Delphine Cousin is shining a light in the 2013 French Windsurfing Championship, with a victory in the second stage, held in Brest.
Despite the difficult conditions - three days of disoriented and gusty winds - sailors were able to complete two races. The organization worked hard to try to get more races, but even if the windsurfing fleet had spent many hours on the water every day, nothing could be done.

Nuno Azevedo sweeps fourth Luso Galaico Championship title

Nuno Azevedo has conquered the bodyboarding division of the XV Luso Galaico Championship, a competition between Portuguese and Galician riders.
Up to 64 bodyboarders and surfers from the North of Portugal and the Spanish region of Galicia have competed at Cabedelo Beach and Arda Beach, in Viana do Castelo.
