The 2009 Kitespeed World Championship is ready for Port Saint Louis du Rhone
Wednesday, 25 February 2009 14:25

Kitespeed World Championship

The 2009 Kitespeed Worlds will be hosted in Port Saint Louis du Rhone from 29.03.2009 till 05.04.2009.

Plage Napoleon offers nuking winds during spring, last year up to 60 knots blasted the riders down the 500m course.

The elite of kitespeed is expected to take part in this battle, including world record holder and local Alexandre Caizergues, Sebastien Catellan, the first man over 50 knots ever, and hotshot Robert Douglas from the USA.

On the womens side, the battle will be close between world record holder Sjoukje Bredenkamp (RSA) and defending world champion Charlotte Consorti (FRA).

Due to the world wide economical crisis, it is unfortunately not possible to run a full world tour in 2009. The remaining events of the 2009 kitespeed season will count toward the world ranking 2009 and will also give points towards the overall kiteboarding world title.

The venues under review currently are Walvis Bay (NAM) for the African continental championship, Dungarvan (IRL) for the European continental hampionship and probably an event in the states.

This problem can be developed after 3000 hours of cold water surfing. Neoprene hoodies and ear plugs are the best way to avoid surgery.
