Boracay: is this paradise on Earth?

The 2012 KTA Philippines crowned the best Twin Tip (TT) and Race Board (RB) kiteboarders. In the last day of competition winds dropped to 12 knots and riders had to race not only against each other, but challenging the wind to pick up and sustain the unabated race momentum.

Sounding off the horn at 10am, two successful races of TT had adrenalines pumping, with kiteboarders racing not only against each other, but challenging the wind to pick up and sustain the unabated race momentum.

Right before noon, the race was captured with breathtaking aerial shots by Alex Baranescu, and incredible video footage by Jim Thirion from a helicopter.

When the wind dropped, one good RB race ensued until the wind decided to call it a day for everyone at 3pm. Talk about the "wacky races", it was one hell of a way to cap the four days of intense competitions.

The kiteboarding competitions of the 2012 KTA Philippines were held on the waters of Bulabog Beach, in Boracay Island.
