United Skim Tour: six stages in 2016 | Photo: UST

The United Skim Tour (UST) has announced the complete schedule for the 2016 season.

The world's best male skimboarders will compete for prize money and titles in six venues, two less than those run last year. The UST made the decision based on the feedback received from athletes.

"Last year, many of the men's professional riders approached the UST Board of Directors and expressed frustration with an eight-stop tour. It was too expensive and too hard on the riders' schedules to compete in six to week events each year," the skimboarding organization explains.

As a result, and after hearing all riders, the 2016 UST decided to design "a strong consensus for a smaller, and easier-to-attend tour." Simultaneously, only the best four results will count towards each rider's final ranking.

"Over the course of the next few months we were surprised to hear from the organizers of both the Cabo Classico and The Vic that they did not want their events included on the 2016 UST," adds the United Skim Tour.

"We at the UST find these decisions unfortunate as we know those are two events that are well liked by the competitors and fans of skimboarding, but we must respect the wishes of the event organizers."
