Sam Stinnett has conquered the 2012 Cabo Clasico, held in Cabo San Lucas. The 2011 United Skim Tour (UST) champion kicked off the new season in great style, during the three days of competition run under strong winds and shoulder-to-head high waves.
Bill Bryan was doing his job and trying to keep up with the highest scorers. After the half way mark, Stinnett was going to change things. A 360 barrel, despite not feeling very good with a few stomach problems. A good set came and both Bill and Sam fought for a good score. Bryan took the upper part of the wave, while Stinnett opted for the shoulder and pulled a flawless 360 Shove-It. The time was running out and he still needed another solid wave. The countdown was on. Less than one minute before the end of the 2012 Cabo Clasico, a mirage gets real. Sam goes for it, punches the lip and comes out in full glory in the whitewash arena. The crowd went mad. A champion was about to be crowned. The 2012 Cabo Clasico: 1. Sam Stinnett |
