Pro skimboarders return to the 2012 South Side Shoot Out

South Side Shoot Out: showcasing the best skimboarders in the world

The 2012 South Side Shoot Out presented by Skim USA and Alley-Oop will be hitting the sands and waves of the South Side of the Indian River Inlet, in the Delaware State Seashore Park, between 2nd-3rd June.


The Pro-Am skimboarding competition is the fourth stop on the Skim USA Tour, as well as the second stage of the professional United Skim Tour.

The amateur divisions will be open to riders of all ages and skill levels. All competitors will receive a free competition t-shirt and complimentary lunches both days.The 2012 South Side Shoot Out will showcase the world's best skimmers competing in Delaware’s famous shore break.

Hawaii Amateur Skimboarding League 2012: skimming is popular in Hawaii

Kyle "Little Man" Olson has conquered the second stage of the Hawaii Amateur Skimboarding League 2012 season, held at Yokohama Bay.


With small waves, sunny skies and gusty winds, all skimmers had to show their talent in more challenging conditions. The result was superb and proved that skimboard is capable of displaying high performances in difficult conditions.

In the Men's Pro division, Kyle Olson was followed by David Sterman and Anthony "Ace" Conlon. On the West side of Oahu, Keiao Gucwa Bucasas took the Women's category, Ka’eo Milles kept the 23 & Up title, while Puali Solomon won the 22 & Under division.

Paulo Prietto: skimboarding hell moment at The Wedge

The Wedge, in Newport Beach, California, is often named as a bodyboarding wave. It's deep, vertical, tubular, irregular and powerful. Some surfers like to challenge and the results are obvious. Broken legs, ribs and bruises.


Paulo Prietto has been skimboarding for a long time. In the above photo, he shows us how to make thing possible, from impossible missions. The wave looks like it was produced for him.

The Wedge delivered a strong winter season. Before the boring "Black Ball" period, skimboarders enjoy their last waves in Newport Beach. From shore to shore, they negotiate the small seaside swell, get past the random wedge and finish in full glory, back in the sand.

Toll road threatens the waves of Trestles

Stop the toll road that will kill the surfing sanctuary of Trestles, in California. Tension is in the air, as hundreds of surfers and friends of San Onofre State Beach unite to protest.
The Regional Water Quality Control Board will decide if the proposed toll road extension, near the world-famous surf spot of Trestles, will go ahead or will be suspended. The Foothill/Eastern Transportation Corridor Agency wants to build a 5.5 mile extension of the 241 toll road into San Juan Capistrano.

Bob Meistrell, co-founder of Body Glove, has passed away at 84.
Bob was hours younger than his brother Bill, who left the world of waves in 2006. The identical twins started Body Glove, in 1965. They wanted to stay longer in cold water temperatures. Robert Meistrell was a passionate diver and, above all, a waterman. Personal submarines were also part of his list of hobbies. He even discovered a gold coin treasure in a paddle wheel steamer that sunk off Crescent City, California.

Giuseppe Zerillo and Pawel Gardasiewicz have been crowned the 2013 Raceboard Youth and Masters world champions, at Marina Julia, Monfalcone.
The final day of windsurfing races saw one more race being run, for a total of six counting for the overall results. Light wind specialists Giuseppe Zerillo and Pawel Gardasiewicz made it clear right from the start that they were in it to win it, taking bullets in every single race.

Antoine Albeau has conquered the 2013 PWA Catalunya World Cup, in Spain. The final took four hours to be completed, due to the gusty and shifty winds.
Albeau has tasted his inaugural season triumph, on the beautiful shores of Costa Brava, to halt Bjorn Dunkerbeck from claiming the title, for the first time, in three years. The French sailor demonstrated his perfectly timed starts time and time again, along with a phenomenal top speed to blow the competition out of the water.
