Tony Hawk: skimboarding with a skateboarding style

"Skimboarding is underrated. This is about as good as I ever got, but there is some raw talent out there". The words come from Anthony Frank Hawk, a man skateboarder also known as Tony Hawk. He tweeted it and everyone opened their eyes.

In fact, "The Birdman" is absolutely right. Skimboarding is one of the oldest boardsports ever, but it never got under the right spotlight. It's strange because all variables in skimming should favour its development.

Skimboarding only needs small waves to get going. This means the sport can be contested in almost all beach conditions. At the same time, skimmers can pull a very wide range of tricks and maneuvers. These moves are super photo-friendly.

John Akerman: no hands aerial-to-victory

John Akerman has conquered the 2012 Sea Bright Skim Bash, in New Jersey,held in sunny skies and small wave conditions. Akerman took the Pro division in style.

Skimboarders participated with all their enthusiasm in a great event. Trophies were delivered in a wide variety of categories, from Mini and Women to Masters, Juniors and Semi-Pro, etc.

The Zap Skimboards crew has reasons to celebrate. The brand's team of professional skimmers took the first, the second and the third place in the Pro division. John Akerman was followed by Dave Armstrong and Max Smetts.

Blair Conklin: never easy to beat Brad Domke

Blair Conklin has claimed the 2012 South Side Shootout, in Delaware. After a good first day of competition, the group of skimboarders enjoyed better weather conditions in the last hours of rides.

Teddy Vlasis, Sam Stinnett, Shawn Kenny and Morgan Just stood ready for the first Semifinal, with waist-high shallow barrels. Sam put out a come-from-behind performance and stormed the show.

In the second Semifinal, there were Tim Fulton, Perry Pruitt, Blair Conklin and Brad Domke. Blair was on fire, despite the spectacular intelligent attacks from Domke. Layback and a groovy 540º Shuv-It sealed the deal.
