Jill Hansen, a Hawaiian pro surfer, has been arrested for allegedly hitting a 73-year-old woman with her car in a fit of road rage.
The surfer, 30, is charged with attempted second-degree murder and is being held on a $1 million bail. Police say Hansen waited until Elizabeth Conklin was out of her car before hitting her.
"I parked in my normal parking place, and I got out, and all of a sudden, I woke up in an ambulance," explains Conklin, who suffered major bruising and is still recovering in a Honolulu hospital.
The victim says she was saved by a man who saw the incident and bashed in Hansen's rear window when she appeared to prepare to hit Conklin again.
Jill yelled out, "My father made me do this; he's a high-powered attorney," before running away and being arrested.
Conklin says she thinks the attack was because Hansen was determined to get a BMW. Hansen stated her desire for a 3 Series BMW on her Facebook page back in February.
Jill Anjuli Hansen was born on November 25, 1983, in Haleiwa, Hawaii.
The regular footer started surfing at eight and won her first professional event at the ASP 1-Star Cardiff Hansens Machado Classic.
On the day of her arrest, Hansen wrote on her Facebook page:
"I am becoming a professional! I have worked so hard to get to today. I am so grateful for all the support of the surfers and the ASP (Association of Surfing Professionals)."
