Dave Rastovich defeated Taylor Knox to clinch the Four Seasons Maldives Surfing Champions Trophy 2014, at Sultan's Point.
The Australian free surfer, 35, opened the final clash against the American rider with a solid 8.60 score. Later he would back it up with 9.10-ride to keep Knox against the ropes.
"If I knew contests could be this much fun, I probably would have been a contest guy, but I don't think there is any other event that is like this one," expressed Rastovich.
"Just to compete against these amazing surfers all week and for all of us to be hooting each other in the line-up has been an incredible experience," added Dave.
Knox, who won both the Thruster and Twin-Fin Rounds and kept a fifth place finish in the Single-Fin division, showed no signs of slowing down at 43 years of age.
"Rasta has been in such good wave rhythm all week, it seems like every time he jumps off the boat he gets a nine. We were just both chatting out there and saying how lucky we are to be here, so it's all good," reveals Knox.
Goofy-footer Hussein "Iboo" Areef took out the Domestic Champions Trophy for the third consecutive year, with big critical snaps and top-to-bottom commitment.
