Sixty-six surfers in Huntington Beach, California, have set a new Guinness World Record for the most people riding a surfboard at once.

The 1,300-pound, 42-foot surfboard performed brilliantly, as 66 surfing enthusiasts climbed on the giant custom-made platform to set, at least, a new Guinness World Record.

"You guys were officially amazing. Welcome to the Guinness world record holder family," shouted Michael Empric, adjudicator for Guinness World Records.

The tricky stunt attracted more than 5,000 spectators to Surf City USA.

All 66 surfers rode the wave for 12 seconds, beating the previous mark by adding two seconds and 19 wave riders to the Australian record.

The 16-inch-thick fiberglass board was designed by Nev Hyman and cut by mouldCAM. It took 72 bars of wax to get it ready for action.

Guinness World Records will also determine if the epic plank is the "world's largest surfboard."
