Modom Shark Leash: a shark deterrent leash for surfers

Modom Surf and Sharkbanz have teamed up to produce a shark deterrent leash.

The Modom Shark Leash uses the well-known Sharkbanz technology.

The magnetic field emitted by the new leash disrupts the shark's senses and keeps tiger sharks, reef sharks, hammerhead sharks, and bull sharks at a safe distance.

The team behind the new shark deterrent for surfers tested the product on a wide variety of sharks.

Although there is no promise of perfection, the risk has been dramatically reduced.

The Modom Shark Leash is fully interchangeable.

If you break a cord or need to incorporate a big wave/small wave rope, you can swap it out conveniently with a fin key.

"When the sharks get close - and the majority of sharks come to have a look to see if you're a prey before they attack - the two-meter magnetic field deters the shark," explains brand ambassador and big wave charger Mark Mathews.

"Does it work on great white sharks? Great whites attack from a long distance at a really high speed, and up until now, there's nothing that can stop a great white that's traveling at that speed."

The Modom Shark Leash is powered by the Earth's magnetic field, so it is continuously charged. You don't have to do anything to keep it working non-stop.
