John John Florence: for many, he is the best surfer in the world right now | Photo: Cestari

For millions, John John Florence is the best surfer in the world right now. But when it comes to winning world titles, the Hawaiian is still warming up.

Will it be this year? Can Florence turn magic into glory? Will his fans celebrate in 2016? The last Hawaiian to win the world surfing title was the late Andy Irons in 2004, so the excitement is building.

"Twelve," a new series featuring the talented surf wizard from Honolulu, guides us through Florence's quest for a maiden World Surf League title. It reveals the ups and downs of his journey in pro surfing.

"It's about finding the balance of enjoying it and having that competitive mindset. That's when you'll be happiest. That's when you'll surf your best," says John John Florence.

Hopefully, all seven episodes will help us understand how John John manages his personal interests - photography, video, and traveling - with his professional commitments. And in the end, we will also know if Hawaii has a new world champion, or if we'll have to wait another year.
