Brett Simpson 

Brett Simpson (USA) has won the 2009 Hurley US Open of Surfing.

The American surfer has defeated Mick Fanning (AUS) with an overall score of 16.93 points.

Fanning scored a total of 12.50 points.

The sunny final of the mythic US surfing event saw nice looking 6-foot waves break by the Huntington Beach Pier.

Brett Simpson added 2500 points to his ASP's WQS ranking and US$100.000.

The next stop for the men on the 2009 ASP WQS will be the ASP WQS 5-Star Relentless Boardmasters in assoc. with Vans from August 4 – 9, 2009 in Newquay, England.
