Brett Simpson (USA) has won the 2009 Hurley US Open of Surfing. The American surfer has defeated Mick Fanning (AUS) with an overall score of 16.93 points. Fanning scored a total of 12.50 points. The sunny final of the mythic US surfing event saw nice looking 6-foot waves break by the Huntington Beach Pier. Brett Simpson added 2500 points to his ASP's WQS ranking and US$100.000. The next stop for the men on the 2009 ASP WQS will be the ASP WQS 5-Star Relentless Boardmasters in assoc. with Vans from August 4 – 9, 2009 in Newquay, England.
