This is the 2nd time the tour event has been held at Porthmeor Beach; the last time was August bank holiday 2006. Dave Reed Event Director commented "This is a fantastic event for the UK Pro Surf Tour, I would like to thank Gul for recognising the need to support events in the West of Cornwall where the level of surfing is extremely high and surfing community is growing rapidly" adding "this event will give the local surfers an opportunity to match their skills with some of the best in Europe".
‘Relentless’ energy drink, one of the Pro Surf Tours main sponsors will be giving a cash prize for the best move of the competition and Gul will announce various other activities as the competition date draws closer. In all, the Gul Open has the potential for being a highlight in the summer surf calendar and a date to remember.
