Think you have what it takes to be the next Stephanie Gilmore?? Well, come along to the Surfing Australia High Performance Centre (HPC) at Casuarina from January 18-22 to surf and hang out with undoubtedly the best woman surfer in the world.
The Surfing Australia HPC is excited to announce the weeklong camp that will be open to 16 lucky 8-17 year old girls. The application process is first in best dressed, and will give aspiring surfers a fantastic opportunity to train with the coaches that helped shape Gilmore’s professional career.
The 3 x World Champion commented on the HPC saying, “The Surfing Australia HPC has all the right facilities and ingredients to help fuel Australia’s future sport stars. The team down there really provide the best information to achieve top results and have helped myself and many of my peers become not just surfers but professional athletes”
The camp will include meeting and surfing with Stephanie Gilmore, personalized signed poster and a Rip Curl goodies bag and shirt for each participant, advice from Australia’s best fully accredited coaches, video analysis of each wave surfed, as well as a DVD of the camp to watch yourself surfing at home.
“Steph is a fantastic role model for women’s surfing. Whether young girls want an amazing role model or advice to start heading down the competitive surfing track, Steph will provide the girls with valuable information. We are lucky here at the HPC as we are only 15 minutes south of the Gold Coast, but enough distance away to allow cutting edge training and coaching in idyllic conditions with uncrowded waves,” said James Eggington – HPC Manager.
Also included for each participant is a Silicon Coach DVD, which is a program that allows coaches to analyse your surfing by providing audio commentary, comparisons with the world's best surfers and digital pencil drawings identifying technique errors. This is burnt onto DVD to watch at home.
Camps start at 7.30am and finish at 4pm each day (NSW time). Camps cater for all surfers whether they are looking to finish their first cutback or start landing aerials. Breakfast and Lunch included each day.
