After assessing conditions all morning, event organizers opted to call a lay day for the Billabong ASP World Junior Championships fueled by Monster Energy. Swamping high tides and small surf in the one-foot (0.5 metre) range at North Narrabeen this morning gave way to nasty onshore winds without much improvement by midday. However, despite today’s less-than-ideal conditions, swell projections are calling for an increase in size over the next several days and event organizers are eager to resume competition as soon as possible. Event organizers will reconvene tomorrow morning at 6:30am to assess conditions for a possible 7am start. When competition resumes, up first will be either the opening heats of the men’s Round 2 or the women’s Quarterfinals.
