With little surf on offer today, event organizers have called a lay day for the Rip Curl Women's Pro Bells Beach presented by Ford Fiesta and the Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach presented by SNICKERS. The second stop on the 2010 ASP Women's World Tour, the Rip Curl Women's Pro saw the completion of the opening two rounds of competition yesterday, but with only inconsistent small surf running down the point today. "Conditions are as expected today with little surf to speak of," Damien Hardman, Rip Curl Pro Contest Director, said. "We've called both men's and women's competition off for the day and will be back tomorrow at 7:30am to reassess conditions." When Rip Curl Women's Pro competition resumes, up first will be Coco Ho (HAW), 18, and Lee Ann Curren (FRA), 20, in the opening heat of Round 3. Event organizers will reconvene tomorrow morning at 7:30am for a possible 8am start. Highlights from yesterday's Rip Curl Women's Pro Bells Beach presented by Ford Fiesta will be available via www.live.ripcurl.com The Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach presented by SNICKERS, Stop No. 2 of 10 on the 2010 ASP World Tour, has yet to commence competition, but event organizers will wait for optimum conditions to kickstart the greatest assemblage of surfing talent in history. Sport and Recreation Minister, James Merlino said the Victorian Government was proud to continue its support for the legendary Rip Curl Pro, one of the world's longest-running professional surf events. "The Rip Curl Pro is a stand-out on Victoria's impressive major sporting events calendar, and this year is no exception," Merlino said. "Spectators will have the fantastic opportunity to cheer on the latest wave of top ranking world champions including Australia's recently crowned world surfing champions, Mick Fanning and Stephanie Gilmore, as they tackle some of the best and most challenging breaks in Australia. "We're proud to support this great event, which not only showcases the world's best surfers, but also promotes our unique surf culture and stunning beaches," he said.
