The Boscombe Pier: forever remembering the souls of surfing

The British surfers who died between 2005 and 2009 will be honoured with a memorial bench placed on the Boscombe Pier.

James Foy (29, from Bournemouth), Pete Happe (31, from Southbourne) Lewis Dunton (34, from Southbourne) and Simon Smith (38, from Wareham) will have their names in individual plaques overlooking the artificial surf reef in Bournemouth.

They did not lost their lives on the waves, but the local surfing community wants everyone to remember their passion for wave riding.

Falling down the stairs, a motorbike accident, carbon monoxide poisoning and sudden death were the causes of the young loss of lives.

The Bournemouth Borough Council is also supporting the memorial bench.
