The 5 Borough Surf Challenge will be held on Saturday, September 25, 2010.

Being held at Rockaway Beach, New York, the specialized event features only the best surfers from the five boroughs of the New York City surf scene.

The format is simple: up to 20 people per team, one team per borough. Team with best point standings after Final heat wins.

“As New York City’s only surf contest, each borough has to show up with their best teams because there is a strategy involved, and usually these types of team events come down to the last minute,” stated Nick Romito, 5 Borough Surf Challenge organizer, contest director, and Manhattan Team Captain.

“It is by far the coolest beach experience in New York City.”

With a solid wave forecast scheduled for the event, the growth and development of the New York surf scene will be in full glory.

“I expect this contest to be as lively and competitive as the city itself is,” stated Billy Melnyk, senior brand manager of Seven Tiki, the official sponsor.
