An Irish surfing entrepreneur has developed the ultimate tool for modern surfers. Nick Ryan is looking for a seed capital that will allow him to market the "Irish-Swiss Army knife" for wave riders.
The Surf Buckle is a special a belt buckle that offers a hex key for adjusting fins, a sharp edge for wax removal, a comb to improve grip and a bottle opener.
The young businessman from Limerick is the founder of LirChild - Lir is an Irish Sea and the name of an Irish God of the Sea whose children were cursed and were turned into swans - a company finding funds through Fundit.ie, in order to kick of the buckle production.
The former Marketing and Entrepreneurship university student has already built prototypes and the final version will be available with a belt. Watch it in action.
"After graduating from university I had the decision of my life to make: either get a job to do a 9-5 or take the largest risk of my life and try to chase a dream to establish a clothing brand during an economic downturn on a scale the world has never seen before", says Ryan.
Nick Ryan hopes to raise €30.000 so that his new surf gadget sees the light of the market. "Your backing will help the project by covering the cost of hiring experts in injection moulding/manufacturing. It will also go towards the tooling of the injection moulds and the final prototype testing of the product", he adds.
