Lady Gaga: the karate-styled surfer

Lady Gaga is the newest surfing celebrity. The singer has enjoyed a few waves in Mexico, during a short summer vacation. The 25-year-old pop star has reportedly been taking surfing lessons while enjoying some time off.

Gaga was photographed surfing waves in Puerto Vallarta, a Mexican balneario resort city situated on the Pacific Ocean's Bahia de Banderas. She is taking off on a 2-3ft wave and preparing to go for a radical bottom turn in a karate-style position.

Lady Gaga was taking a break from promoting new single "You And I" and decided to pay $240 for her surfing lesson. "For a relative beginner she took to surfing really well," said a witness.

"She started quite slowly learning how to bodyboard and then she was able to work up to standing - she made excellent progress."

The picture was posted by Lady Gaga on her Twitter page and shows the star in a skimpy black bikini and standing on a surfboard with caption that read, "yeah thats me. no heels baby."

The author of "Born This Way" is one of the many film and music stars that have already tasted the pleasures of surfing.
