Alana Blanchard: hitting the lip into the 2013 ASP Women's World Tour

Sage Erickson, Bianca Buitendag, Pauline Ado, Rebecca Woods, Alana Blanchard and Sofia Mulanovich have secured a spot in the 2013 ASP Women's World Tour.

The surf race is over. Tears of joy and sadness have been poured as the 2012 Women's World Tour season comes to a dramatic, in Azores.

The new surfer girls of the elite tour have been named and there's one rider per country being added up to the 2013 season. New fresh faces are joining the Dream Tour.

Alana Blanchard was sitting just one spot outside of the qualification zone and needed to better a 25th place, which she easily did by advancing all the way to the semi-finals of the Sata Airlines Azores Pro.

"I had a lot of fun in the Azores and am excited to come back next year. I've been on the WCT two times, and I'm excited to see all the girls again and you know like travel with all the Hawaiian girls and just see everyone surfing at their best", says Blanchard.

Pauline Ado has secured her requalification for the 2013 World Championship Tour. The young French surfer from Anglet entered the last event ranked 6th and was in the most critical position, needing to better a quarter-final result.

"All week I didn't sleep really good, so I just tried to focus on what I could control, basically my surfing and myself, and I was trying not to think about the other surfers", explains Ado.

Alizé Arnaud is still recovering from a deep frustration. An early loss in the Azores Pro changed her situation of potentially qualified for the WCT, to the number 7 spot. Being first alternate though, Arnaud has a chance to enter World Championship Tour events next year in case one of the Top 17 surfers pull out and can be replaced.

The final position for the ASP Top 17 will be the ASP Wildcard, to be determined in the coming weeks.

The new Seals Balance Pro by EQ earplugs allow surfers to protect their ears and hear everything when wearing them.
When spring and summer start, everyone surfs more often. Also, all-year round surfers are more exposed to severe ear injuries, such as the surfer's ear (Exostosis) and swimmer's ear (Otitis). This problem can be developed after 3000 hours of cold water surfing. Neoprene hoodies and ear plugs are the best way to avoid surgery.
