Nelscott Reef Big Wave Classic: exit door

The Nelscott Reef Big Wave Classic has been given the green light and will run on the 2nd February, in Lincoln City.

The Big Wave World Tour 2013 is running at full steam, in the Northern Hemisphere. After the Mavericks Invitational and the Punta Galea Challenge, the best fearless riders in the planet will challenge the Oregon peak.

John Forse, director of the Nelscott Reef Big Wave Classic, has given the green light for the 8th annual event for this Saturday, based on favorable forecasts and a deep-water swell that should see waves in the 30-foot plus range.

After a dormant 2011/2012 season that never provided an adequate swell for the first time in NRBWC history, this season has been active and the conditions finally presented themselves in the last couple of days.

Simultaneously on the South Reef adjacent to the contest reef there will be a South Reef Bomb competition where all the waves ridden will be recorded and replayed at the Awards Banquet following the Contest.

The Biggest Wave Award will be voted on by all in attendance and the surfer will be given a seed into next year's Nelscott Reef Big Wave Classic.
