The Wave: diving into the Isle of Wight

The developers of the first artificial wave pool in the United Kingdom have announced the construction of a second inland surfing facility on the Isle of Wight.

The team led by Tobin Coles and Nick Hounsfield, which prepares the instalation of the Wavegarden technology in Bristol, revealed that discussions have been started to build "The Wave" in the iconic Isle of Wight.

The entrepreneurs have been approached by a tourism consortium on the Isle of Wight about the possibility of creating a site on the island, where summer festivals take place.

"As part of our long-term business strategy, we were already planning to build another 'The Wave' elsewhere in the UK and were keen to look at locations on the south coast", explains Tobin Coles, co-founder of the surf pool company.

"The Isle of Wight is a great fit for 'The Wave'. It is rural, has a resident surfing community but also attracts a good influx of tourists every year", Nick Hounsfield adds.
