Tao of Surfing: getting the cameras ready for tears

"Tao of Surfing" is the latest movie adventure in the world of wave riding. Bailey Chase, Eric Balfour, Lou Diamond Phillips and Peter Mel are in the cast.

Surfing is the new Hollywood hype. This time, "Tao of Surfing" explores the life of a surfing champion who returs to the Big Surf, after year of spiritual isolation. The main character is gay and sees himself dying of AIDS.

The surf movie is directed by Lou Diamond Phillips and will be shot in the Santa Cruz region, in Northern California. The story is adapted from the book "Tao of Surfing: Finding Depth at Low Tide", by Michael A. Allen.

The film promises a story of compassion, brotherhood and the wisdom that a dying friend leaves behind, and the realization that life's changes parallel the ebb and flow of the tide.

"This is a film about our quest to achieve a more meaningful life by obtaining a deeper understanding of ourselves and our relationship to the world around us. Thus we continue our search for perfection, individuality and freedom", it can be read at the movie's website.
