The legendary big wave spot of Belharra has awaken to deliver a giant surfing day.
Waves peaking at 33 feet (10 meters) have hit the reef located off Saint-Jean-de-Luz, in the Northern Basque Country, France.
Alain Riou, Justine Dupont, Peyo Lizarazu, Stéphane Iralour, Eric Rougé, and Benjamin Sanchis enjoyed long left-handers in the Belharra surfing arena, following the big swell that has hit Western European countries, such as Portugal.
The big wave surfing session attracted hundreds of spectators to the Socoa coastline.
Surfers were catching waves nearly three kilometers (1.8 miles) off the shore, so telephoto lenses and binoculars were indispensable.
Justine Dupont, 22, has earned a Billabong XXL entry, after managing to ride a Belharra monster wave.
