Matteo Iachino finished the Tenerife King of Downwind 2015 in the first place.

The 17-kilometer downwind marathon was run between El Poris and the bay of El Medano, in Tenerife, Spain.

The Tenerife King of Downwind had no marks in the water; there were only some boats around for security reasons and to film the event.

The first edition of the windsurfing event had winds ranging from seven to 15 knots. Twelve racers competed in the waters of the Canary Islands.

Matteo Iachino won the race with a total time of 33 minutes 25 seconds. The silver medal went to Vincent Langer and Jordy Vonk secured the bronze trophy; Esther van Geus was the fastest woman.

Windsurfing offers multiple sailing opportunities. You can go free riding in a flat water lake or hit the ocean for a wave sailing session. As with everything in water sports, there's a specific rig for each kind of windsurfing discipline.
