UKWA

The UKWA National Championships 2009 begin at the Weymouth & Portland Sailing Academy this Bank Holiday weekend... and what a way to spend a Bank Holiday!

Although we will have paid a small supplement of only £5.00 per day to compete at this venue, there is no better location in the UK for Course Racing. Weymouth, historically, has delivered great events for the UKWA and so - on our return after too many years away - we look forward to three days of action-packed racing.

About The Cup Series: The objective is to provide high quality Racing for the Techno OD 6.8 & 7.8, RS:X, Raceboard and Formula Fleets.

Racing will take place on a variety of courses depending on conditions. Whilst these events attract the top Course Racers from around the UK and abroad; if this is your first event, do not be deterred, you are most welcome. Make yourself known at the Race Office and we will not only welcome you, but we will make every effort to make your first event a memorable and enjoyable experience.

Series Scoring: The UK 2009 National Champion will be decided by the British Open Championship results at Weymouth on Oct 31st & Nov 1st (in conjunction with the RYA), plus your best 4 results out of the 5 Cup Series events.

Party: As this is the first event of the Cup Series there will be a Welcome Party on the Saturday night, upstairs in the Spinnaker Restaurant at the Sailing Academy. There will be a small entrance charge.

AGM: The UKWA AGM will be held in the main downstairs room of the Sailing Academy on Sunday evening, starting at 8.00pm.

Camping: As you enter the Sailing Academy, overnight camping is located in the large car park. Conveniently, kit can easily be carried to the rigging area and slipways just across the access road. Trailers can be left in the trailer park before parking. There is a small charge made by the Academy for overnight camping. Drinking water is available nearby.

Entry: Online pre-entry is the preferred method via the UKWA website www.ukwindsurfing.com - remember pre-entry closes after the Friday week before each event. Alternatively an entry form can be downloaded from the UKWA website and a cheque forwarded to the UKWA office (address at top of form), again to be received the Friday week before an event.

You can also enter on the day, just turn up at Registration on the Saturday morning (from around 8.30/9.00am - listen out for the announcements).
