Ray at Southend: choppy, windy, speedy

British speed windsurfer Steve Thorp reached a 47.4 Knot max and a 44.27 five times 10 second average at Ray at Southend on Sea, United Kingdom.

After this intense session - with a super wipeout - Thorp is now leading 2010 World GPS Speedsurfing ranking.

Bjorn Dunkerbeck: windsurfing speed king

Nearly 25 selectionned riders were on the starting line for this first long distance race of the 2010 Dakhla Festival. The forever leader Bjorn Dunkerbeck was leading from the beginning of the race and logically he finished first of this Moroccan competition. Bieuzy Mauffrey, from France, took the 2nd place closely followed by the young french slalomer Pascal Toselli.

In the kitesurf discipline, Alex Caizergues, french kitesurf world record owner, very glad of this opportunity to challenge the windsurfers. All the competitors talked about the particular nature of the course. The lagoon of Dakhla gives us a unique place to ride.

"On the water, in the middle of the bay, we can glance at the sand dunes background, says Sarah Hébert, 1st women rider finishing the race. We even hesitate to stop on the coast to see this landscape closer." Besides this incredible environment, we can see a complex course, "physical, long and hard" in Bieuzy's words when he arrived on the beach. "This is the most difficult long distance I've ever known" said Bieuzy.

Fuerteventura Wave Classic: this is how it will look further ahead

Trials have already begun here in Fuerteventura, but unfortunately there was no wind for the first day. Two local riders can still have their chance to compete into this 2nd edition of the Fuerte Wave Classic, and tomorrow we hope the wind and waves will allow them to show their talents.

By the way, the FWC team is working hard to give you the best of the event notably by setting up a new web page that you really have to check soon through our blog .

Concerning the program, we'll have the riders on-site on march 1st, and the opening ceremony in the evening with the team draw (Hotel Oasis Papagayo). Then we'll carry on with 11 days of possible waveriding action in the best conditions and we'll crown the winning teams on march 12th in the evening (Hotel Oasis Papagayo).
