UKWA RYA National Junior Windsurfing Championships

Britain’s top young windsurfers will have a new stage on which to show off their talents this year as the RYA stages the first ever RYA National Junior Windsurfing Championships. Run alongside the UK Windsurfing Association (UKWA) inland series event, the inaugural RYA National Junior Windsurfing Championships will see the youngsters pit their wits against each other at Whitwell, Rutland Water on 17 - 18 May.

Seven class National titles will be up for grabs at the event in both open and BIC Techno fleets.

Helen Cartwright, RYA National Windsurfing Coach, cannot wait to see the talent on show at Whitwell. She said: “This is excellent news for junior windsurfers and allows all Team15 (T15) and Junior windsurfers the chance to enter a National Championships designed specifically for them.

Alex Mussolini

RRD are happy to announce the signing of Spanish wave ripper Alex Mussolini (RRD / NeilPryde) to their International Windsurfing team. Alex’s target will be to rip on RRD boards on both the PWA Wave tour and on his quest for the perfect ride during a schedule of exotic trips.

The man himself, Roberto Ricci said, 'I’m very happy to welcome Alex aboard on RRD. He’s young, radical, very talented and incredibly motivated to improve his development skills both on and off the water.

I think that here at RRD he’ll find plenty of opportunities to grow as a pro rider, and all the tools he needs to catch new waves and enjoy natures pleasures.'

The backing for the greatest tour on earth’s growing stronger day-by-day, with Maui Fin Co. becoming the latest Associate Member of the PWA.
The famous composites manufacturer from Windsurfing’s capital in Hawaii has a world-class range of fins as well as impressive soft goods accessory collections.

MFC’s brand ambassador Pio Marasco was instrumental in engineering the partnership, and was only too happy to speak up about why MFC are so amped to be identified with the latest growth in the sport.

‘I think the PWA’s constantly growing and moving forward in it’s mission; every year we’re seeing something new, new sponsors, new events and also the Slalom tour’s bringing a lot more interest for the public.
I also feel for year-on-year growth brands like us need to push hard and support events for the good of the sport.
We’re looking forward to the 2008 tour, and hope to see some spectacular last-minute battles between athletes of all disciplines to really spice it up.
MFC strongly believe in this partnership with the PWA and obviously in the sport of windsurfing.
We’re always developing new fins with our riders to always be on top and assure our team to have a great tool for their boards.
We also feel that together we can bring more interest to the sport by helping people understand that with windsurfing, we have the chance to be in the water, and enjoying nature it in a very particular and unique way that we can transmit to our friends.
