Uri Valadao: chasing airs

The Association of Professional Bodyboarders (APB) has confirmed the 2014 Itacoatiara Pro, to be held between 23rd July and 3rd August, in Brazil.

The 4-Star bodyboarding competition will attract the world's top male and female riders, and plays an important role in the 2014 APB World Tour. Itacoatiara is a fast, hollow wedge with three main beach breaks: Costao, Meio and Pampo.

The Brazilian wedge will defy Ben Player, who is leading the rankings after a hard-fought victory at the Pipe Pro, the first event of the season. Uri Valadao is second, and Spencer Skipper is third.

Meanwhile, the Association of Professional Bodyboarders has debuted a new website, in which all information about the professional circuit is compiled. Apparently, the sport's rulebook remains untouched, which means that an overall champion may still be crown based on previous year's results.

The 2014 APB World Tour is scheduling a total of eight tour stops. Pipeline, Itacoatiara, Arica, Antofagasta, Sintra, Isla Margarita, Middles Beach, Venao Beach, and El Fronton.

Surfing at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games will take place in the ocean, not in a wave pool. The waiting period runs from July 24 to August 9.
