Jamie O'Brien has conquered the Stand-Up bodyboarding division at the 2016 Pipe Trials, held in three-foot surf, at Kea'au Beach, Oahu.
The Hawaiian surfer put out a stellar performance on the first day of competition at the 2016 Pipe Trials and won a spot into the main of the Stand-Up contest hosted by Mike Stewart.
O'Brien transported his "surfboarding" skills to the bodyboarding discipline and impressed the judges with his tube-riding technique, 360s, and aggressive cutbacks.
Jamie O'Brien stormed the final heat with an incredible two-wave score of 18.60 points, leaving Mack Crilley, Sammy Morretino, and Alan Lamphere in the remaining positions podium places.
"I'm stoked to win the Stand-Up bodyboard Trials. I also earned a spot in the Mike Stewart Invitational at Pipe for Stand-Up bodyboard. It's going to be classic! Good fun yesterday," wrote O'Brien.
Jamie will be joined by Noa Auweloa, who won the Men's Prone trials. Milo Delage took out the Pro Junior final, and Dave Hubbard conquered the Drop-Knee division.
The 2016 Mike Stewart Pipeline Invitational runs from February 21st through March 4th at Banzai Pipeline.
