Neymara Carvalho has taken out the Bodyboard Girls Experience 2016 on the Portuguese island of Madeira.

The five-time world bodyboarding champion visited Madeira for the first and was able to conquer the third stage of the 2016 European Tour of Bodyboard (ETB).

The event is in its third year and continues to attract an increasing number of riders from all over the world.

In the highly-disputed final held at Fajã da Areia, Carvalho used her experience to defeat Ayaka Suzuki, Isabela Sousa, and Patricia Setubal.

"Oh my God, what a special win. This place is beautiful, and the people here are so wonderful. The place I love in this life is in the sport - winning is just a consequence of that love. Thank you, Madeira. It was love at first sight," expressed Neymara Carvalho.

Leonor Monteiro ended up winning the Junior division, and the best-ranked young rider was Teresa Padrela, who took out the event's iconic tiara.

"The waves of Madeira didn't disappoint, and the Bodyboard Girls Experience 2016 had high-quality waves in several spots across the island. For 2017, we want to step up the game and bring world-class free surfers who aren't competing at a professional level," added Carina Carvalho, founder of the Bodyboard Girls Experience.
